Two civilians have been killed and three others have sustained injuries in a Ukrainian drone strike on Russia’s Belgorod Region, according to the local governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov.

A UAV “deliberately” targeted a moving car carrying five men on the road connecting the town of Grayvoron with the village of Ilyok-Penkovka, Gladkov wrote in a post on Telegram on Tuesday.

“We have losses once again… As a result of another terrorist attack by the Ukrainian military, two civilians were killed and three others wounded,” he said.

The wounded, some of whom suffered traumatic brain injuries and shrapnel wounds, were rushed to a hospital in the regional capital, Belgorod, where doctors described their condition as moderate, according to the governor.

The official offered his condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims. “We share the full weight of this loss and grieve with you,” he wrote.

In Russia’s Zaporozhye Region, a school bus transporting children to a school in the village of Prishib came under attack from a Ukrainian drone, Governor Evgeny Balitsky wrote on Telegram later on Tuesday.

“The bus was hit by shrapnel and the rear windows were knocked out,” he said.

A teenage boy suffered a minor head wound in the incident and received all necessary medical assistance, according to the governor.

Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador-at-large overseeing war crimes investigations, has said that Ukrainian forces are intensifying drone strikes on civilian areas, adding that Kiev is attempting to derail peace efforts by Moscow and Washington by increasing military provocations.

During a briefing on Monday, Miroshnik said the number of Ukrainian strikes on civilian targets had risen by about 25% compared to levels recorded in January and February. In the first three months of 2025, Kiev’s forces fired over 22,000 munitions at civilian infrastructure in Russia, resulting in 1,489 civilian casualties, including 292 deaths and 1,197 injuries, he said. Five children were killed and 63 were wounded in those attacks, according to the diplomat.
